Four students from Brooksbank have smashed the Intermediate level at this year’s Rotary Technology Tournament. Bailey Dawson (11Y), Oliver Bottomley (11T), Josh Chappell (11N) and Max Gravenor (11E) were all part of the winning formula.
A total of five teams from Brooksbank took part in the annual contest. The battle took place at North Bridge Leisure Centre Halifax, with teams representing high schools from across Calderdale vying to win.
Five teams from Years 8, 9, 11, 12 and 13 represented Brooksbank at foundation, intermediate and advanced levels. A range of tools and materials were available and, best of all, large bags of Haribo Star Mix were on each table.
Each had a four-hour window of opportunity to design and make an advertisement display board which had a flashing beacon on the top. To make things a little more difficult, the beacon had to flash ten times without assistance.
“All the teams worked really hard and their enthusiasm was great to see. It was particularly pleasing to see older students sharing ideas and experience with younger ones,” said Mrs Bassinder, Teacher of Technology.
